Satwik and Chirag lose in semis, India’s China Open run ends

India’s run at the China Open ended as R Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty lost in the semifinals to Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in straight games

Hyderabad: It was the end of the Indian challenge in the China Open badminton championship, with the country’s lead men’s doubles duo of R Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty crashing out in the semifinal on Saturday.

Satwik and Chirag lost to the Malaysian pair of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 13–21, 17–21.


This was the Indian pair’s third semifinal appearance on the BWF Tour after they had reached the last four at the Singapore Open and India Open.

The Malaysian duo will face Indonesians Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the final.
