Savvy entrepreneur from Hyderabad hopes to create a better world
Meet Sandhya Jella who wear her many hats like fashion designer, social activist and model with elan
City-based entrepreneur Sandhya Jella who is the founder of the brand Shaivi is making great inroads into any career path she chooses. She won the title of Miss Global India 2019 adding to the list of other titles she has won like Miss Telangana and Women of Honour award for her social contributions.
Hailing from a middle class family, after doing her MBA, she preferred taking a challenging option to start her own business as she realised her passion towards creating new styles in fashion. She launched her label Shaivi 7 years ago.
“The year 2018 was a wonderful year where I participated in an international beauty pageant upon my sister’s suggestion who pushed me to explore beauty on a global platform,” said Sandhya. The success gave her confidence to come out of her shell and blossom as a fashion model and she began taking commercial modelling projects.
Sandhya is also involved in social services. For her contributions towards women issues, she was appointed as commitee head of young Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE), Telangana Chapter. She was also honoured for her services for 2020 and was appointed as brand ambassador for ‘Value Education’, which will work towards empowering girls by grooming them from an early age to be fearless, confident of handling any challenges and building their self-esteem and awareness, arming them with self defense techniques and martial arts skills.
“Women empowerment is the key to strengthen participation in the decision-making which is the most important key to socio-economic development. There is a social, cultural and family pressure on women which acts as the main issue to the gender equality,” said Sandhya. Sandhya is open to giving opportunities to women of any age and qualification as she also trains them helping them pick up skills which can make them financially independent.
