SBI ATMs broken open, cash stolen in Karimnagar

Unidentified persons broke open two SBI ATM machines at Durshed and Thimmapur on Karimnagar outskirts and fled with cash on Saturday night. Police said the suspects used gas cutters and were disguised in women’s attire. Their identity and stolen amount remain unknown.

Karimnagar: Unidentified persons decamped with cash from two ATM kiosks belonging to SBI by breaking open machines at Durshed and Thimmapur on the outskirts of Karimnagar on Saturday night.

Police said that unknown culprits, disguised in women’s attire, used gas cutters to break open machines and fled with the money loaded inside. The thefts occurred at kiosks located along State Highway 1 or Rajiv Rahadhari.

Morning joggers alerted police who in turn inspected the spots of the offence and launched a probe. CLUES teams have been pressed and evidence has been gathered. CCTV footage recorded on Rajiv Rahadhar and nearby areas, was being scanned to identify the offenders.

The exact amount of stolen cash is yet to be ascertained. Efforts were being made to crack the thefts and to trace the culprits. The theft at two ATM kiosks, however, created a flutter in the town.
