Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Congress MLA N Sri Ganesh is set to take part in a relay hunger strike on Tuesday, demanding that civilian areas of the Secunderabad Cantonment be merged into the neighbouring GHMC, citing self-respect and overall development of the Cantonment area.
According to a press release from the MLA’s office, he will sit in relay hunger strike at SCB Ward No 3, Karkhana, at the Dr BR Ambedkar statue, from 10 am onwards.
The MLA strategically chose the venue where Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, addressed a public meeting during the Secunderabad Cantonment bye-election held in June 2024.
Sri Ganesh raised the SCB merger issue during the recent Assembly sessions. A couple of days ago, he reacted to a gazette notification of the ‘Ministry of Defence’ (MoD) regarding civilian nominated members across 58 Cantonment Boards in India, including SCB, being extended for another year, and announced the relay hunger strike against the MoD’s decision.
His announcement came a few hours after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy left for Davos, on Monday, to attend the annual World Economic Forum meet.
