Hyderabad: The registration of immovable properties in Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) was disrupted on Monday due to a technical glitch in the IGRS portal.

Recently, the Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration and Stamps (IGRS), Telangana, permitted the SCB to collect Transfer of Property Tax (TPT) directly from June 1.

Officials at the Sub-Registrar’s Office in Bowenpally told Telangana Today that a technical issue in the IGRS portal regarding the collection of TPT charges directly by the SCB disrupted the process due to the portal not being updated.

“Unless the IGRS portal is updated with the provision for 5 per cent TPT charges to be collected directly by the SCB, property registrations will remain halted,” officials said.

When contacted, SCB officials said, “The non-updating of the IGRS portal led to a technical issue in the collection of TPT charges. We are pursuing the issue with the IGRS department and hope it will be rectified at the earliest.”

From June 1 onwards, SCB property owners were supposed to pay 6 per cent through the IGRS portal and the remaining 5 per cent TPT charges through the SCB portal.

On April 6, SCB officials passed a resolution at a Board meeting to take over the rights to collect the TPT following delays in the remittance of charges collected during immovable property registrations by the State government.

Over the past several years, the State government has been collecting 11 per cent in duties and taxes, including 5 per cent TPT charges on the value of the sale, but has not remitted Rs 73 crore to the Cantonment Fund Account of the SCB since 2016.
