Hyderabad: The Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, Telangana, has accorded permission to the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) to collect Transfer of Property Tax (TPT) directly from June 1.

A memo issued by the Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, S D Twinkle Joan, to SCB Chief Executive Officer Arvind Kumar Dwivedi stated that directions had been issued to separate and enable the collection of TPT charges by SCB instead of cumulative collection through the IGRS portal from June 1.

Based on these orders, SCB officials have made a provision on the official online portal, Secunderabad Cantonment Board, to pay 5 per cent Transfer of Property Tax directly to SCB instead of making the payment through the Telangana State IGRS portal.

Recently, SCB officials put up flex boards at the premises of the Registrar of Assurances and Marriages office at Bowenpally, explaining the steps property owners need to follow to complete the registration process for their properties.

SCB officials, on April 6, passed a resolution during a meeting to take over the rights to collect Transfer of Property Tax following inordinate delays in the remittance of charges collected during immovable property registrations by the State government.

Currently, the State collects 11 per cent in duties and taxes, including 5 per cent TPT charges on the value of the sale, but has not remitted Rs 73 crore into the Cantonment Fund Account of SCB since 2016.

From June 1, out of the 11 per cent duty on the sale value, property owners will have to pay 6 per cent through the IGRS portal and the remaining 5 per cent TPT charges through the SCB portal, SCB Information Technology wing in-charge S Raj Kumar told Telangana Today.

Steps for payment of 5 per cent TPT charges through the SCB portal:

Login: SCB Portal

Enter: a valid mobile number, captcha and OTP

Under Citizen Services, select: Challan System

Fill in consumer details and select: Cantonment Secunderabad

Service Category: Select service type: Registration Fees

Enter: Registration fee amount, i.e. 5 per cent of document value

Click on: Generate challan

Attach the payment receipt before proceeding with registration
