Khammam: A centralised community kitchen has been set up at Madhira in Khammam with support from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation (HKMCF) to provide breakfast to government school children.

The centralised community kitchen has been designed using state-of-the-art technology and automated systems for the hygienic preparation of breakfast for as many as 44,107 students studying in government schools across 16 mandals in Khammam district.

SCCL provided funds under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, while the State government allotted an 8,000-square-yard shed at the Madhira Agricultural Market Yard for its construction by HKMCF.

The facility is equipped with high-capacity automated steamers capable of producing 5,400 idlis in 60 minutes, a specialised automatic dosa machine that can make 2,000 dosas in 60 minutes, and a fully automatic poori machine capable of producing 3,600 pooris per hour.

It also features automated systems for preparing sambar and vegetable curries sufficient for 5,000 students within two hours, as well as rice-cooking machinery capable of preparing enough rice for 1,000 students in just 15 minutes.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with the president of HKMCF-Akshaya Patra Foundation Telangana-Andhra Pradesh region, Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa, SCCL CMD Buddha Prakash Jyoti and HKMCF CEO Kaunteya Dasa, inaugurated the facility on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said permanent kitchens would be completed across the State within the next three months to provide breakfast to 27 lakh students studying in government and residential schools.

In addition to breakfast, milk would be provided three days a week and ragi malt (finger millet porridge) on the other three days to ensure the nutritional well-being of students, he added.

MLA M Ramdas Naik, MLC Sripal Reddy and District Collector Divakara TS were present.
