Mancherial: The SCCL Srirampur Area recorded a dip in coal production, mining 3.3 lakh mts of coal as against the target of 4.09 lakh mts, reflecting 81 per cent in August. The Srirampur Area Chief General Manager Muniganti Srinivas briefed the media on the monthly performance of the unit on Tuesday.

Srinivas said that rains in the last month affected coal production. He informed that RK-NT and SRP-1 mines registered 102 and 112 per cent of the target, respectively, while RK 7, SRP 3 and 3A underground mines achieved 100 per cent of the monthly target each. Opencast projects such as SRP OCII and IK OCP witnessed below 100 per cent of the target, he explained.

The CGM expressed hope that the unit would be able to achieve the monthly target for September. He said that the Area had so far mined 15.44 lakh mts of coal when compared to the annual target of 23.21 lakh mts from January 1 to August 31, indicating 67 per cent. He was confident of surpassing the deficit this month.

The SCCL official further said that a golden jubilee of SRP 1 underground mine would be celebrated on Wednesday, marking the completion of 50 years. He attributed the milestone to the role of coal miners and officials. He congratulated the miners and officials on reaching the milestone.

Meanwhile, the SCCL Bellampalli Area saw the output of 1.69 lakh mts of coal as against the target of 2 lakh mts, reflecting 85 per cent of achievement. Similarly, Mandamarri Area posted 1.50 lakh mts of coal when compared to the target of 1.74 lakh mts of coal and achieved 86 per cent.
