Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Board president Brigadier S Rajeev on Wednesday inaugurated Sir CV Raman Akshaya Vidya Science Centre, said to be the first science centre set up in the city exclusively for slum students, at Tadbund.
A city-based non-government organisation, the Akshaya Vidya Foundation, in collaboration with the SCB, has set up the science centre. The aim is to ignite curiosity and promote experiential learning among government school students from grades 6 to 10, said Akshaya Vidya Foundation founder T Varaprasad.
The centre is designed to provide hands-on exposure to scientific concepts as per their curriculum, encourage innovation, and make science learning fun and interactive for government school children. This project aims to impact 15,000 government school children at the end of three years, he said.
