Science Congress: Dr. Satheesh Reddy urges youth to lead India’s tech revolution
At the inaugural session of the Telangana Science Congress–2025 held at Kakatiya University, Hanamkonda, former DRDO Chairman Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy called on Indian youth to embrace innovation and global competition in emerging technologies such as AI, ML, cybersecurity, and quantum tech.

Hanamkonda: Former DRDO Chairman, scientific advisor to Ministry of Defense Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy advised the youth to shift their mindset towards innovation and technological advancement which should be useful for the country.
Addressing the inaugural session of the three-day Telangana Science Congress – 2025 at Kakatiya University on Tuesday, Dr Reddy urged students to embrace global competition in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cyber security and quantum technology.

The event, themed ‘Innovative Skills for Empowerment: Science and Technology for Transforming Young India’, marks the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Kakatiya University.
Dr Reddy noted that as many as 4.34 crore students are currently pursuing higher education in India, which is more than the population of some countries. He added that nearly 1.5 million students were coming out of engineering colleges every year, with 90 percent securing employment. In 2016, there were only 458 start-ups in the country, but today the number has exponentially increased to 1.75 million, a truly revolutionary change, he remarked.
“Innovative thinking is crucial for a student’s success but not his or her rural background,” he emphasised.
Vice Chancellor Prof. K Pratap Reddy emphasised that welfare and service should be the goal of science. Other dignitaries who addressed the gathering included Mahatma Gandhi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Altaf Hussain, Telangana Council of Higher Education’s Prof. Balakista Reddy, Telangana Academy of Sciences President Prof. Ch. Mohan Rao, Organising Secretary Prof. B. Venkatrama Reddy, and Registrar Prof. V. Ramachandram.
The congress features thematic and plenary sessions, interactive interviews between scientists and school students, exhibitions, and workshops. An abstract of the event was released during the ceremony.
Two books were also unveiled: ‘Bharatdesam Lo Tholi Vanitha Vaidulu’ penned by retired All India Radio Assistant Director Dr. Nagasuri Venugopal and ‘The Researcher’s Compass’ written by AGS Reddy.
