Kothagudem: Human progress is possible only with scientific perspective and students should learn to question as well to think in the right direction to move forward in life, suggested noted poet Dr. Jayaraju.
The Prakrithi Vygnanika Yatra, launched on January 27 under the aegis of Vignana Darsini, Nehru Centre and Nature Foundation, reached Kothagudem on Saturday. The yatra was launched at Somasila in Nagarkurnool to create awareness among students about nature, the Constitution and scientific temper.
Addressing a gathering of students at Abdul Kalam Engineering College here, Dr. Jayaraju said that the people still believed in superstitions even as the humankind was travelling to the universe. The students should abandon such beliefs and adopt a scientific perspective.
The current generation of students was lacking scientific temper. Knowledge comes through questioning and rational thinking. Animate existence on the earth was facing threat from global warming and it was everyone’s responsibility to protect Mother Nature, Dr. Jayaraj said.
The college Principal Dr. Dayakar and Vignana Darsini founding president T Ramesh also shared their views on environmental protection urging students to contribute their part to preserve nature.
Speaking at a meeting at Prakriti Ashram later in the day, Dr. Jayaraju said independence was achieved as a result of many sacrifices in the independence struggle and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar gave the Constitution to make it a success. There was a conspiracy to change the Constitution recently and people should understand it; work together to protect the Constitution, he noted.
Dr. Jayaraju, Vignana Darsini founders Ramesh and Shobharani and Amma Organ Donation Association state convener Eeshwar Lingam were felicitated by the ashram members. The ashram convener G Suguna Rao, organiser KH Prasad, members S Venkateswarlu, Mallela Ramanatham, Mokkala Rajasekhar and others were present.
