Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has introduced a biometric sign-on and sign-off system for Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) staff to enhance transparency and streamline operations.
The system has initially been rolled out at six TTE lobbies, including Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded. It will gradually be extended to all 73 lobbies across the Zone.
Earlier, TTEs logged in using usernames and passwords. The new Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication ensures the physical presence of staff at source and destination stations, with real-time recording of login and logout times.
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava lauded the move, calling it another step towards digitalisation and transparency in railway operations.
