SCR operates 860 special trains during festivals, 37pc more than last year
From October 1 to November 10, approximately 3 crore passengers traveled on the SCR network, with nearly 8 lakh more passengers compared to the same period last year.

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) operated around 860 additional trips of trains in the form of special trains during Dasara, Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals this year, which is 37 per cent higher compared to the 626 special trains that were operated last year.
Between October 1 and November 10, around 3 crore passengers travelled from SCR network. Nearly, 8 lakh additional passengers travelled, in comparison to last year in the same period.
During the festival season, large number of passengers travel towards Eastern states like West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar etc., and northern states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi etc. The special trains have been run towards stations in other states like Shalimar, Raxaul, Jaipur, Lalgarh, Hisar, Gorakhpur, Shirdi, Danapur, Nizamuddin, Cuttack, Agartala, Santragachi etc. Special trains have also been operated to other demand destinations like Madurai, Erode, Nagercoil, Kollam, Bengaluru, Panvel, Dadar, Tirupati etc.
