Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment MLA N Sri Ganesh on Monday criticised Malkajgiri BJP MP Etala Rajender over the proposed merger of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB).
Reacting to the MP’s recent comments to the media, Sri Ganesh claimed that Rajender’s stand was due to a “lack of fundamental knowledge” about the complexities of the merger and the needs of local residents.
The verbal confrontation coincided with the seventh day of the MLA’s relay hunger strike. Addressing media persons at the protest site on Monday, Sri Ganesh issued a direct challenge to the parliamentarian.
“I openly challenge the MP to visit this hunger strike venue and take part in a transparent public discussion on the merger issue,” the MLA said.
In a joint appeal, the MLA urged the Centre to abolish the system of civilian nominated members immediately. He demanded the swift integration of the Cantonment Board into the State Government’s municipal framework, specifically the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), in the larger interest of public welfare and balanced urban development.
