Secunderabad Cantonment MLA launches hunger strike for SCB-GHMC merger

MLA Sri Ganesh began a relay hunger strike at Dr BR Ambedkar Statue in Karkhana, urging the Central government to expedite the merger of Secunderabad Cantonment civilian areas with GHMC. He accused the BJP-led Centre of delaying SCB polls since 2020 and failing to act on the merger.

Hyderabad: Amid police security, Secunderabad Cantonment MLA N. Sri Ganesh on Tuesday launched a relay hunger strike at Dr. BR Ambedkar Statue, Karkhana, demanding that the Central government start the process of merging the Secunderabad Cantonment civilian areas with the GHMC on a war footing.

In a press release, the MLA said the BJP-led Central government was delaying the SCB polls since 2020 and was not processing the merger.

The SCB merger with the GHMC was linked to the development of the Cantonment region and in view of lack of funds in the SCB, the Central government should withdraw its civilian-nominated system, he said.
