Redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station is progressing swiftly. The RPF building is completed, while works on the air concourse, multi-level car parking, and foot over bridge are ongoing. Officials aim for minimal passenger disruption and completion by late 2025

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad railway station redevelopment work is underway at a brisk pace, with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) building already completed.
The construction works have commenced and are ongoing on the air concourse, multi-level car parking, Foot over Bridges, elevators, north-side main building and south-side electric sub-station, among others.
The new RPF building at railway station is complete as part of the ongoing redevelopment project. This is one of the completed components, alongside a temporary booking office, while other works like the basement construction on the south side, foundation work, and the new foot over bridge at the Kazipet end are also progressing.
The SCR officials said that majority of the construction work related to foundation has been completed on the south side. As part of the redevelopment works, the works were awarded to Girdharilal Construction Private Limited at a cost of about Rs 720 crore for completion by 2025 end or the first quarter of 2026.
Two electrical substations of 33 KV capacity will be coming up in place of the earlier existing 11 KV for meeting the demands of the station.
The redeveloped station will have a 6-floor multi-level car parking on the northern-side of the station building. Currently, more than 50 per cent of the foundation and other works have been completed.
SCR senior officials said that redevelopment works are being planned such that there is least inconvenience to the passengers. The new station building will have modern architecture and world-class amenities for the rail passengers, they added. The progress of the work is being monitored continuously with instructions to undertake all construction works, duly taking care of all safety measures, railway officials said.
Secunderabad railway station redevelopment progress:
• RPF Building: The new RPF building is finished.
• South Side: Basement construction is nearing completion (90 per cent), ground floor will serve as a drop-off zone, with basement levels providing parking for 200 vehicles.
• North Side: Construction for a multi-level car parking (MLCP) facility is underway.
• Foot over Bridge: Foundation work for a new FOB towards the Kazipet end is also completed.
