Self-styled godman arrested for misbehaving with woman in Adilabad
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy stated that Maharajan, a resident of Maharashtra's Nanded district, was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a woman after luring her into a room alone, claiming he would treat her illness through sorcery.
Adilabad: A self-styled godman was arrested on charges of misbehaving with women patients under the guise of performing sorcery here on Friday evening.
Adillabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said that Maharajan from Nanded district of Maharashtra was apprehended for misbehaving with a woman by inviting her to a room after sending her family members outside under the pretext of treating her disease through sorcery.
The woman raised an alarm when Maharajan touched her inappropriately. Her family members went inside the room and rescued her. Abhinay Kumar, a family member of a victim lodged a complaint with police. A case was registered against the godman and investigations were taken up.
Police urged the public not to trust unscientific methods of medicine. They requested the people not to believe self-styled godmen for curing a disease in the era of modern science and technology.
