Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University paid rich tributes to departed colleague Prof. Mohd. Zafaruddin, Director, Centre for Urdu Culture Studies, who passed away due to cardiac attack on Monday. One among the first employees of the university, he is survived by wife Dr. Mosarrat Jahan, Associate Professor, Dept. of Urdu, MANUU, a daughter and two sons.
Prof. Mohd. Zafaruddin joined MANUU in 1998 as Assistant Public Relations Officer and was appointed as Reader, Translation Division in 2004 and later as Professor, Department of Translation in 2008. He served in different capacities as Dean (School of Languages), Head (Dept. of Translation), Proctor, Director I/c (Directorate of Translation & Publication) and was a member of Executive and Academic Councils of MANUU.
Prof. S M Rahmatullah, Vice Chancellor I/c, and Prof. Siddiqui Mohd. Mahmood, Registrar I/c recalled the invaluable services of Prof. Zafaruddin to the university and visited his family to express their condolences, the press release said. An online condolence meeting was also held on Tuesday.
