Hyderabad: The Task Force (Charminar) team, along with local police, nabbed a seven-member interstate drug peddling gang and seized 23 kgs of marijuana worth Rs 16 lakh near MGBS in Afzalgunj on Thursday.
Police said the suspects included transporters and a local peddler who had allegedly been sourcing marijuana from Odisha and supplying it in bulk to city-based peddlers for the past two years.
The contraband was reportedly procured at a lower price in Odisha and transported by private bus to Hyderabad for distribution at higher rates.
Police said the gang had arrived in the city with the consignment packed in multiple packets and were waiting to hand it over to a local contact when they were caught.
Afzalgunj police are investigating.
