Seven players share lead in Brilliant Trophy Chess Tournament

Multiple players shared the lead after three rounds of the 242nd Brilliant Trophy Chess Tournament in Hyderabad. Sunishka Suryadevara occupied second place in the juniors category, while three players jointly led the Open section with perfect scores

Hyderabad: Six players, Chethan Maale, Karthikeya Raj, Vedashruthi, Abhishay, Avaneesh Gadipelli, Vikhyath Thallapally and Sathya Karthikeya, shared the lead with three points each from three rounds in the juniors category of the 242nd Brilliant Trophy Chess Tournament at Brilliant Grammar High School (Dilsukhnagar) here on Saturday.

Sunishka Suryadevara is in second place with 2.5 points from three rounds.


In the Open category, Akavaram Aashish Reddy, Suryaprakash Koundinya and Yuvaan Rodda are in the lead with three points each from three rounds, while Himesh Empalli, Shaik Md Irfan and Rahul Kille are in second place with 2.5 points from three rounds.

3rd round:

Juniors: Naga Vaisanth (2) lost to Chethan Maale (3); Abhishay (3) bt Navya Sree Sajjan (2); Sameeksha Gajjela (2) lost to Avaneesh Gadipelli (3); Harini Balina (2) lost to Sathya Karthikeya (3); Sreesa Saravana (2) lost to Karthikeya Raj (3).

Open category: Himesh Empalli (2.5) drew with Shaik Md Irfan (2.5); K Perumallu (2) lost to Suryaprakash Koundinya (3); B Srikanth (2) lost to Akavaram Aashish Reddy (3); Yuvaan Rodda (3) bt G V V Sathya Sai (2); Rahul Kille (2.5) bt Siva Satyanarayana (1.5).
