Seven teams formed to nab Shabad murder suspect: Future City CP

Future City Commissioner Tarun Joshi said the six murders in Shabad mandal were committed at two locations. Police have formed seven special teams to trace the absconding suspect, Raj Kumar, while investigating whether the killings were linked to a POCSO case.

Hyderabad: Future City Commissioner of Police Tarun Joshi on Saturday said the gruesome killing of six people in Shabad mandal of Ranga Reddy district took place at two different locations, and police have launched an intensive search to nab the suspect, Raj Kumar.

Addressing the media, the Commissioner said police received information about the murders during the night.

According to the preliminary investigation, Raj Kumar first went to the house of the teenage girl in Shabad at around 11 p.m., where he allegedly stabbed her mother and grandmother to death with a knife. He then allegedly took the 17-year-old girl to a lake near Nagarkunta, where he allegedly murdered her.

After committing the three murders, the suspect allegedly returned to his own house and killed his wife and two children.

The Commissioner said a POCSO case had been registered against Raj Kumar on May 16, and he had subsequently secured bail in the case. Police are investigating whether the murders were linked to the case.

Following the killings, Raj Kumar allegedly called his parents over the phone and told them that he had killed six people and that he was also “going to die,” the Commissioner said. The bodies of all six victims have been shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

“Raj Kumar remains absconding, and seven special police teams have been formed to trace and apprehend him. The killing of his own wife and children has shocked us as well,” Commissioner Tarun Joshi said, adding that the investigation is continuing.
