Peddapalli: Seven aspirants who received financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh each under the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham scheme, launched by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), successfully cleared the Civil Services Examination last year.
The scheme, launched in 2023 using SCCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, aims to eliminate financial barriers for Telangana aspirants preparing for the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Last year, 140 candidates who cleared the Prelims were given financial aid. Of them, 20 qualified for the Mains, and seven went on to clear the final exam.
Buoyed by the encouraging results, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Balram announced on Friday that the scheme would continue this year as well.
Online applications will be invited from June 23 from Telangana candidates who have cleared the recent UPSC Civil Services Prelims. Each selected candidate will again receive Rs. 1 lakh under the scheme.
Additionally, children of SCCL workers who cleared the Prelims will also receive Rs. 1 lakh each as a financial incentive.
Balram noted that the success of the initiative, and suggestions from the State government, had prompted SCCL to extend the scheme to benefit a larger number of aspirants this year.
Eligible candidates are advised to apply through the official SCCL website: www.scclmines.com.
Balram urged all eligible aspirants appearing for the Mains to take advantage of this unique opportunity to pursue their dreams without financial stress.
