Severe cold wave grips Telangana, Kohir hits 7.4 degrees Celsius
A severe cold wave continued in Telangana, with Kohir in Sangareddy recording 7.4 degrees Celsius. Ten areas fell below 10 degrees Celsius, including Sirpur and Mominpet. IMD predicts temperatures 2–3 degrees Celsius below normal over the next two days

Hyderabad: Severe cold wave conditions continued to prevail in several parts of the State, with Kohir mandal in Sangareddy district recording the lowest minimum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius as against last year’s temperature of 9.0 degrees Celsius, on Thursday.
A total of 10 areas in the State recorded less than 10 degrees Celsius. A minimum temperature of 8.0 degrees Celsius was observed at Sirpur in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district as against 9.7 degrees Celsius on this day last year.
As per the Telangana Development Planning Society, places where less than 10 degrees Celsius minimum temperature was observed were Mominpet (8.5) in Vikarabad, Narsapur (8.7) in Medak, Bibipet (8.9) in Kamareddy, Ibrahimpatnam (9.0) in Rangareddy, Sonala (9.1) in Adilabad, Akbarpet-Bhoompally (9.2) in Siddipet, Rudrangi (9.4) in Rajanna Sircilla, and Saloora (9.8) in Nizamabad district.
The average minimum temperature across the State was 13.3 degrees Celsius against the normal of 18.5 degrees Celsius. As for the GHMC areas, the lowest minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at the University of Hyderabad. The average minimum temperature was 18.2 degrees Celsius and lowest minimum temperature of 7.0 degrees Celsius was recorded at Moinabad in Rangareddy on November 20.
In a press release on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department said minimum temperatures in Hyderabad are likely to be below normal by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the next two days. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius respectively.
