On Wednesday, a man had even attacked a tribal woman with a knife when she confronted him at Bommareddypet in Chowtakur mandal. On February 17, a man raped a tribal woman at Fasalwadi near the town. The woman, and her husband were on a pilgrimage and they were on their way back home to Alladurg.
While the couple were resting on the temple premises, the accused persons attempted to sexually exploit her. When the husband confronted him, he beaten him badly and the woman was raped. The police nabbed him a few days later.
A few days later on February 21, two persons raped a eight year girl at 2 BHK colony in Fasalwadi by luring the girl offering a chocolate. A month later on March 25, another woman was raped by two persons near Mamidipally.
When the woman was going in an auto with her husband, two drunkards forcibly took her away after beating her husband. She was raped multiple times and harassed by the accused. The police also nabbed the duo.
These incidents had underlined the importance of the police increasing the patrolling in and around Sangareddy during the nights besides educating the women to move safely.
During the past three years, the rapes cases continued to increase. The district recorded 77, 100 and 131 rape cases in 2022, 2023 and 2024 respectively. Until March 31, the district recorded 18 rape cases. The new SP Paritosh Pankaj will have a strong challenge ahead to control such crimes in the district and ensure women safety.
