SFI demands Chief Minister to address Ashram School CRTs’ problems
The SFI extended its solidarity to the CRTs who have launched an indefinite strike six days ago demanding minimum time scale, job security, to regularisation of their services and others
The strike by Ashram Schools CRTs entered into the sixth day on Wednesday.
Kothagudem: The Student Federation of India (SFI) district committee demanded the Congress government to regularise contract residential teachers (CRTs) working in Tribal Welfare Ashram Schools in the State.
The SFI extended its solidarity to the CRTs who have launched an indefinite strike six days ago demanding minimum time scale, job security, to regularisation of their services and others. The federation district vice president S Bhupender took part in the strike at ITDA, Bhadrachalam in the district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion he demanded Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to appoint a minister to look after the education department. The contract teachers, who were striving to offer quality education to the poor students in the agency areas, were not paid salaries for the past six months.
As a result they were facing financial difficulties. Hence the pending salaries should be released immediately. Even though the Supreme Court has given a ruling to regularise the contract employees and the law stipulates equal pay for equal work, the government was not implementing it, he complained.
It was sad that as many as 2,100 CRTs working across the State have no job security. The government was acting negligently in paying the salaries. The contract teachers should be paid salaries on the first day of every month through green channel, Bhupender demanded.
Even as the CRTs across the state have been on strike for the six days the government was not showing concern. Students were facing difficulties as the teachers were on strike. The Chief Minister should immediately respond and solve the CRTs’ issues, he noted.
He warned the government that if the contract teachers problems were not resolved immediately, the SFI would mobilise the students of the Ashram School and stage agitations across the State.
