Shailesh Vagerwal assumes charge as Chairman and MD of BDL
Shailesh Vagerwal has assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Dynamics Limited. An Indian Ordnance Factories Service officer, he brings nearly three decades of experience in defence manufacturing, having served in key positions across ordnance factories and Munitions India Limited.
Hyderabad: Shailesh Vagerwal assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) on Thursday.
An officer of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS), Vagerwal brings nearly three decades of rich and diverse experience in the defence manufacturing sector.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur. He also earned a Master of Science in Explosive Ordnance Engineering from Cranfield University, United Kingdom.
During his career in defence manufacturing, he has held several key positions at Ordnance Factory Dum Dum, Ordnance Factory Itarsi, Ordnance Factory Khamaria and Munitions India Limited, Corporate Office, Pune, a defence PSU.
Over the years, Vagerwal has acquired extensive expertise in ammunition and explosives production, administration, strategic planning, material management, quality assurance, procurement of plant and machinery, project management, civil works, research and development, exports and business development, human resource management, and industrial relations.
Prior to joining BDL, he served as Chief General Manager at Ordnance Factory Khamaria, Jabalpur, a unit of Munitions India Limited.
