Shepherd drowns in Peddavagu stream in Asifabad

A 21-year-old shepherd drowned in the Peddavagu stream at Penchikalpet in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district on Friday evening while fishing. Police said the youth, Mekala Jampanna, ventured into deep waters and drowned.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A 21-year-old shepherd drowned in a stream, the Peddavagu, while fishing at Penchikalpet on Friday evening.

Police said that Mekala Jampanna ventured into the stream to fish at a deep spot. Another boy, who was accompanying Jampanna, managed to survive by holding onto a pillar of the bridge built across the stream.

On receiving information, police launched an operation to find his body. Expert divers were pressed into service to locate the body. The shepherd’s body was recovered from the stream at around 9 pm.
