SI on Ganesh immersion duty succumbs after hit-and-run on NTR Marg in Hyderabad

A sub-inspector from Kothagudem Two Town police station, K. Venkanna, died after being knocked down by an unidentified motorcycle while on duty at NTR Marg. Though he initially thought his injuries were minor, he later developed complications in Warangal and succumbed during treatment at MGM Hospital.

Hyderabad: A 55-year-old Sub-Inspector of Police, who was on Ganesh idol immersion duty at crane-2 on NTR Marg, died after he was allegedly knocked down by an unidentified motorcycle on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as K. Venkanna, an SI attached to Kothagudem Two Town police station.

According to police, Venkanna was on duty at NTR Marg when the unidentified motorcycle hit him and fled the spot. The sub-inspector lost his balance and fell on the road.

As he was suspected to have sustained only minor injuries initially, Venkanna decided to return to Warangal. However, after reaching Warangal, he developed giddiness and was shifted to MGM Hospital for treatment. He later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Police registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the motorcyclist involved in the hit-and-run. CCTV footage and other evidence are being examined as part of the investigation.
