Over 1.19 lakh Ganesh idols immersed in Cyberabad limits

Over 1.19 lakh Ganesh idols were immersed across Cyberabad Municipal Corporation limits at 53 designated points, including Kukatpally’s IDL Lake. The civic body also collected 6,000 kg of flower waste over 11 days, which is being processed into incense sticks and diyas.

Hyderabad: A total of 1,19,667 Ganesh idols were immersed in water bodies within Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) limits. The CMC facilitated immersions at 53 designated points including IDL Lake, also known as Rangadhamuni Cheruvu, in Kukatpally as well as other water bodies.

Over the past 11 days, teams have also separately collected about 6,000 kg of flower waste from designated immersion points. The flowers are being segregated, dried and processed into incense sticks, dhoops and diyas, giving the offerings a second life and promoting responsible festival waste management, according to an official release.

CMC officials said arrangements and separate flower-waste collection would continue as more idols were expected to be immersed. Field teams will remain deployed for the remaining immersion activities, with the civic body focusing on safety, cleanliness at immersion points and sustainable festival practices, it added.
