Siblings from Hyderabad win honours in Karate meet in Kazakhstan

More than 11 countries took part in this karate championship. The Indian contingent returned with 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in the Eurasia Cup 2021.

Hyderabad: Two city siblings Juveria Naaz and Hajera Mahveen—bagged gold and bronze medals respectively in the in Karate Do International Online Karate Championship which was organised by European Union of National Karate Do Association in Uralsk city of Kazakhstan recently.

More than 11 countries took part in this karate championship. The Indian contingent returned with 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in the Eurasia Cup 2021.


Showing grit and character, the two sisters cornered glory. “It was amazing and a dream for us to represent India in international events and make our state and country proud by winning medals,’’ said Hajera.

Juveria said they were grateful to their father Zaheeruddin. ”He has been our mentor. It was very tough during pandemic too and practicing martial arts in the pandemic was a challenge for us,’’ Juveria, the elder daughter of Zaheeruddin.
