Siddipet: Siddipet District Collector P Venkatrami Reddy on Thursday informed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has reduced the number of star election campaigners to 30 from 40 in view of Covid-19 pandemic.
Releasing the new guidelines of the ECI on star campaigners, the Collector said the registered parties will have to submit the list of star campaigners 10 days before after the election gazette notification issued.
The Collector said that the ECI has decided to permit 20 star campaigners for unrecognised parties. He said these parties need to take permission from election authorities 48 hours before a star campaigner participates in electioneering.
