Ensure smooth supply of irrigation water for Yasangi in Siddipet: Harish

Former Minister T Harish Rao held a review meeting with irrigation officials in Siddipet, urging them to expedite the Irkode and Chandlapur lift irrigation projects and complete pending distributary canals under the Kaleshwaram project. He stressed the need for desilting canals to ensure water reaches tail-end fields.

Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao asked the irrigation department officials to speed up the Irkode and Chandlapur lift irrigation projects apart from ensuring the smooth supply of irrigation water to meet the Yasangi needs of farmers.

Talking to the irrigation officials during a review meeting with them in Siddipet on Friday, Harish Rao directed them to complete all the pending distributary canals under Kaleshwaram project to ensure the smooth supply of irrigation water to Yasangi.

He also asked them to take up the desilting of the existing canals for smooth flow of irrigation water to even tail end fields. Talking over phone with Collector K Hymavathi, the former minister requested her to grant sufficient funds to take up the pending canal works in Siddipet constituency.

Suggesting them to have a perfect plan for supplying irrigation water for the season, Rao recalled how the farmers struggled last Yasangi due to lack of planning from officials.

Later, he also examined the Chinna Kodur railway station works. While examining the railway line works across irrigation canals, the former minister asked the officials to remove silt from canals after the railway line works are completed.
