Siddipet: Siddipet Municipality has been selected for the Swachh Survekshan Award-2021 for its best waste collection practices of dry, waste and harmful waste. Municipal Chairperson K Manjula and Commissioner KV Ramana Chary will receive the award from the hands of President Ramnath Kovind during a programme in New Delhi on November 20.
Municipal Commissioner KV Ramana Chary said that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has considered the collection of dry, wet and harmful waste while choosing Siddipet for the award. He said they have examined 50 indicators related to the collection of these three wastes in all the civic bodies across the country and found Siddipet is among the best in waste collection practices.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao has congratulated the Siddipet people, Chairperson K Manjula, Commissioner Chary, other officials and elected representatives for winning the award. Saying that Siddipet people played a vital role in winning the award, the Minister said that people have absolutely followed their suggestions.
Siddipet Municipality has won 18 awards so far since 2012 for improving greenery, cleanliness, supplying drinking water and others. Rao has called upon the citizens, elected representatives and officials to work with the same spirit to make Siddipet town the best town in the country in all categories. Chairperson K Manjula has said the committed work of Finance Minister T Harish Rao, Municipal staff and citizens helped them to bag the award. She has said that the Minister was there to support them and show a way in making Siddipet a model in all categories.
