Siddipet: The timely help extended by an NGO has helped an orphaned girl to excel in academics and move closer to her dream of becoming a doctor.
Neerudi Vijayalakshmi (16), who lost her parents at a very young age of five years to suicide, was keen on becoming a doctor, which till a year ago, seemed a distant dream.
When Sarvodaya Grama Seva Foundation (SGSF) came forward to support the girl this year, she came out with flying colours scoring 419 marks out of 440 in her intermediate first year examination. Aiming to crack NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) in the second year, Vijayalakshmi says she wants to become a doctor.
SGSF, which has been supporting around 40 children who lost their parents, came across the story of Vijayalakshmi, her elder sister Maheshwari and younger brother Jagadish. The SGSF founder Dr Sudhakar Nayak said that they have decided to support these three children by extending financial support. Dr Nayak said that they are extending Rs 4,000 scholarship per month to Maheshwari who is pursuing her BSc Nursing.
Besides admitting Vijayalakshmi to a corporate college in Miyapur by paying her tuition fees, SGSF has been giving Rs 3,000 per month as scholarship to her. The NGO has also been extending Rs 2,000 scholarship to Vijayalakshmi’s brother who is studying in 10 Class at ZPHS, Hanumantharaopet village in Narayankhed Mandal, every month. The three children, natives of Lingapur, a hamlet of Hanumantharaopet, lost their parents ten years ago. They completed their studies in government institutions with the support of their paternal grandmother and uncles. However, Sarvodaya Grama Seva Foundation’s timely support came at the right time to help them realise their dreams.
