Mother’s Day recognises mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general as well as the positive contributions of mothers which they make to society.
Anna Jarvis with the first official Mother’s Day celebrated in West Virginia on May 10, 1908.
On this day all over the world, cards gifts and mementos are given away in appreciation of all the efforts, struggles, achievements made by every mother from every household to great honours given on national and international forums. On this special day children give away handmade cards, gifts, chocolates to their mothers for showing unconditional love to them.
In schools, institutions and companies a small token of appreciation is given to all the mothers for their contribution they make in small or big ways to the society where they live in. Children look forward to this special day where they can shower their mothers in their special way.
We all owe to our mothers. Although recognising mother’s love and sacrifice cannot be a one-day affair but in this present situation of Covid-19, role of mothers has increased manifold.
