Hyderabad: Double Olympic medallist and former world champion P V Sindhu was stranded at Dubai International Airport on Saturday, with many flights being cancelled in view of the escalating tension in the Middle East.
The champion shuttler from Hyderabad is on her way to the United Kingdom to take part in the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championships starting next week. She is accompanied by her team.
Sindhu posted a video of a crowded airport showing near chaos, as passengers were seemingly helpless and were apparently not sure how they would reach their destinations.
She reached Dubai this morning when there was no tension in the Middle East and everything looked normal.
According to information, Sindhu, who is accompanied only by her support staff, has checked into a hotel and is hoping for the best.
However, it is learnt that India’s premier doubles combination of R Satwiksairaj and Chirag Shetty have already reached the UK for the championship.
