Hyderabad: Bored of sitting at home and yearning for a concert? And cursing the pandemic for putting a full stop to all the party plans? Worry not, this Hyderabad-based gaming company has the right solution for you. The company’s virtual concert, to be held on January 26, will let you sing, dance and interact with the ‘Tunak Tunak’ singer Daler Mehndi from the comfort of your home.
Metaverse – a term that has got popularised by Facebook – is making a splash in India as well. Hyderabad-based gaming studio Gamitronics has created this metaverse with playable non-fungible tokens (NFTs) powered by blockchain. Touted to be India’s first virtual concert, Daler Mehndi will become the first Indian to perform at a Metaverse concert. The Bhangra pop pioneer will perform his hit numbers on Republic Day.
“This is the first time that an India-based company is offering a virtual concert through the Metaverse. We have over seven more artistes planned for this year. Post the concert on January 26, the parallel virtual world will be open for the registered users wherein people can buy cars, shop for clothes, meet like-minded people and actually experience the concept of a virtual city,” says Rajat Ojha, founder, Gamitronics.
According to Ojha, this virtual concert is completely different from concerts that have been conducted on YouTube or other platforms. In this concert, users’ virtual version can dance and sing with the celebrity and also interact with the singer.
Daler Mehndi will be shown in a larger-than-life avatar and he will also be dropping his three NFTs which include his Pagadi, golden ticket and a video byte that users can buy using cryptocurrency. The Metaverse is running on Gamitronics’ own wallet called MeraCoin and participants can use the Apna Wallet option to buy goods in the virtual world.
The concert is free and it is happening on the partynite.io platform and users just need to register with their mobile number and email id and download the file that is sent as a link and follow the instructions. From January 27 onwards, users can visit the virtual city and the company has signed brand partnerships to enable users to buy different things virtually either by using cryptocurrency or by using online payment systems like UPI and Netbanking.
