Peddapalli: The Republic of Ghana, known for its rich reserves of diamonds, gold, bauxite, manganese and lithium, has invited Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to invest in its mining sector.
A high-level delegation from Ghana met SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Balram at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad on Saturday to discuss potential business collaborations.
During the meeting, the Ghanaian delegation said their country offered significant investment opportunities in the mineral sector and welcomed Singareni, considering its vast experience in mining operations. They highlighted that Ghana was a major producer and exporter of minerals such as diamonds, gold, bauxite, manganese and lithium, and was seeking investments to scale up production. They also mentioned the presence of coal mining in Ghana and sought Singareni’s cooperation in that area as well.
Responding to the proposal, Balram assured that the company would evaluate prospects for mining in Ghana and prioritise projects related to critical minerals since SCCL had already initiated efforts to expand its operations internationally and explore opportunities in the extraction of critical minerals.
The Ghanaian delegation informed that a technical team from Ghana was scheduled to meet officials in New Delhi next month. They requested a follow-up meeting with Singareni and invited the company to send a team to Ghana for further discussions.
This development marks a significant milestone as it presents Singareni with its first opportunity to enter the African continent.
