Hyderabad: Drinking water supply will be interrupted in several parts of the city due to emergency pipeline repair works being taken up by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to plug leakages in the 1,200 mm diameter gravity main pipeline between Singapur and Khanapur, which belongs to the Singur project supplying drinking water to Hyderabad.
As a result of the repair works, drinking water supply will take a hit in the areas including Gandipet, Kokapet, Narsingi, Manchirevula, Puppalaguda, Khanapur, Manikonda, parts of the Shaikpet Reservoir command area and parts of the Bhojagutta Reservoir command area, a press release from the Water Board on Tuesday said.
HMWSSB (Jalamandali) Managing Director, Ashok Reddy, instructed the Operations and Maintenance and Transmission officials to work in coordination and ensure residents in affected areas do not face hardships by supplying water through tankers. The authorities have urged the residents in the above-mentioned areas to use water sparingly until the supply is fully restored.
