Telangana doctors decry NEET-UG 2026 cancellation

Hyderabad: The medical community across Telangana has erupted in a wave of frustration and disappointment following the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026.

Aspirants, MBBS students, medicos, and public health commentators rued that a similar incident had occurred in 2024, but the allegations were brushed under the carpet; they contend that had authorities acted decisively then, this crisis would not have repeated.

Strongly condemning the development, Telangana Junior Doctors Association (T-JUDA) stated that NEET-UG 2026 cancellation has seriously compromised the credibility of the national entrance process.

Highlighting the emotional distress of sincere aspirants, T-JUDA said that the future of medical education must be shielded from exam mafias through encrypted digital protocols and independent audits.

Noted infectious disease specialist and a public health communicator from Hyderabad, Dr. Ranga Reddy Burri raised fundamental concerns regarding the current testing culture.

“When standards are lowered below zero just to fill seats, alongside persistent paper leaks and a protracted admission process, it’s time to seriously question the entrance exam model itself. Intermediate marks for UG and undergraduate performance for PG might be a more credible basis for admission than “endless normalisation experiments,” Dr. Burri remarked.

The Healthcare Reforms Doctors’ Association (HRDA) labeled the incident a complete systemic failure. The body of senior residents from across Telangana said that such leaks are a direct assault on merit.

Dr. M. Rajeev, TPCC Medical and Health wing State Chairman, pointed the finger directly at the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Central Government.

“The Central Government and the NTA (National Testing Agency) together have pushed the future of lakhs of students into uncertainty. The official confirmation of the NEET paper leak is a blot on the country’s education system.”
