SIO urges Rs 5,000 crore minority education allocation in Telangana budget
The Students Islamic Organisation submitted education budget recommendations to the Telangana government, urging an increase in minority allocation to ₹5,000 crore. Speakers at a round-table stressed better fund utilisation and strategic planning to improve educational outcomes.

Hyderabad: The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) organised a round table meeting on ‘Education Budget Recommendations’, and formally submitted a booklet titled “Education in Telangana: Budget, Challenges and Suggestive Recommendations 2026–27,” which includes research-based policy proposals for the upcoming financial year, on Thursday.
Academician Prof S A Shakoor emphasised the need for strategic planning in the minority budget and proposed an increase from Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 5,000 crore in the forthcoming state budget.
Journalist and former MLC, Syed Ameen ul Hasan Jafri, underscored that strengthening budget utilisation mechanisms is equally important as increasing allocations. He called for a detailed assessment of fund usage and stressed the importance of channeling resources strategically to enhance educational outcomes and ensure holistic minority upliftment through systematic planning and efficient execution.
The round table was attended by Dr Atif Ismail, Prof Islam Uddin Mujahid, Lubna Sarwath, Raza Ahmed Khan, Mir Mumtaz Ali, Prasad Shastry, Prof Anwar Khan, Khurshid Alam Nadvi, Asghar Ali, and Advocate Abdus Sami.
