Sircilla: Vinod urges farmers to take up dairy units

Rajanna-Sircilla: Telangana State Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar called upon the farming community to take up the dairy units for alternate source of income and simultaneously provide supplements to their family members by providing nutritious and healthy food.

Vinod Kumar along with ZP chairperson N Aruna had formally inaugurated the Bulk Milk Cooling Unit (BMCU) of 10,000 litres capacity and 43rd department dairy parlour in Malkapet village of the interior Konaraopeta mandal on Thursday.


He also launched the new Karimnagar Dairy’s Nutri-Whey (protein energy drink) in mango and lychee flavours and also Vanilla flavoured milk.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Kumar said that there was ample market for dairy products in Hyderabad. But, the farmers of Telangana were unable to capture it, allowing farmers from other States to sell their milk in State, he stated.

“When farmers of Gujarat can sell milk through Amul in Hyderabad, why can’t our farmers tap the potential and reap riches? You (farmers) produce the milk and we will provide you market,” he said.

Stating that the farmers from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh were selling more than 400 lorry loads of sheep in Hyderabad because of huge demand for mutton, he said that the State government launched the sheep rearing scheme to benefit the shepherds. He called upon the farmers to take up dairy and sheep farming along with other agricultural activities to get good returns.

With regard to the Nutri-Whey protein drink launched by the Karimnagar Dairy, he said that the Whey was a popular health drink in the USA and other countries. It is a good health drink consumed by athletes and others, he called upon the people to drink Nutri-Whey for healthy living.

Karimnagar Dairy chairman Ch Rajeshwara Rao said that the Karimnagar Dairy is the only dairy in the entire Telangana to launch the Nutri-Whey protein health drink after the Amul dairy.
He said that they were opening more BMCUs in the integrated Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Medak districts to increase milk production.

Former Minister Chalmeda Ananda Rao, Managing director P Shankar Reddy, Advisor V Hanumantha Reddy, Dairy board of directors and others were also present.

Takes part in groundbreaking ceremony

TS Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar formally launched the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Chalmeda Janaki Devi memorial primary school building in Malkapet village of Konaraopeta mandal on Thursday.

Former Minister Chalmeda Ananda Rao had donated Rs 1 crore for the construction of state of the art modern primary school in memory of his mother Janaki Devi in his native Malkapet village.

On this occasion, Vinod Kumar hailed the noble gesture of Mr Ananda Rao for the construction of a school building in his native village and also announcing Rs 3 crore for the construction of Sri Rama temple at Malkapet reservoir which was taken up as part of Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.

Stating that the residential hostels for the SCs,STs were neglected in integrated Andhra Pradesh, he said that the residential hostels have been completely transformed after the formation of new State and there was huge demand for admissions in the residential schools. He also said that the government was spending Rs 1.25 lakh per annum on each student studying in the residential schools.

NAFSCOB chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao, Karimnagar Dairy chairman Ch Rajeshwara Rao, former Minister Chalmeda Ananda Rao, CAIMS chairman Ch Laxminarasimha Rao, Janaki Feed MD Ch Venkateshwara Rao, Vimala feeds MD Ch Madhusudhan Rao, ZP chairperson N Aruna, DEO Radhakrishna and others were also present.
