Rajanna-Sricilla: A weaver from Sircilla textile town Veldi Hariprasad, who shot into limelight with his innovative works, has now weaved a shawl along with the picture and lyrics of famous musician and lyricist Ilaiyaraaja. The speciality of the work is that it can be fitted into a matchbox, like some of his earlier projects.

Following an order placed by two Ilaiyaraaja fans from Jagtial, Hariprasad weaved a pure silk shawl weighing 150 grams over five days. The shawl has a height of 2 and 1/4 meters and width of 48 inches.

Besides symbols of the sur notes, ‘sa re ga ma’ on either side of the musician’s photo, his favorite song ‘Janani Janani’ sung by him in the 1982 Tamil movie ‘Thaai Mookaambikai’ has also been woven on the borders of the shawl.

The two fans, Rajendra Prasad Regonda and Sudheer Kumar Thandra from Jagtial, had asked Hariprasad, after which the duo presented the shawl to Ilaiyaraaja at his residence in Chennai on Tuesday. His favourite song was also woven in the shawl since Ilaiyaraaja starts every concert with that song, Rajendra Prasad told Telangana Today, adding that Ilaiyaraaja was “very happy” after seeing the shawl.

Hariprasad, who grabbed the attention of the entire country by weaving the G20 logo on a single cloth with the help of handloom, had earlier weaved a gold saree for the goddess Sita on the occasion of the consecration of Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22 this year. He had also weaved the pictures of Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali on the occasion of Tendulkar’s birthday. His G20 logo work had earned the appreciation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Hariprasad has also weaved a saree that could be fixed in a match box and passed through the hole of the needle, the national anthem on a single cloth and so on.
