Karimnagar: Upset over his marriage proposal being rejected by the family members of the woman he loved and due to the alleged harassment by the police, a youngster attempted suicide by consuming poison while beaming live his attempt on Facebook, at Sircilla on Monday. His shocked friends, who watched it, alerted his relatives, who rushed the young man to a hospital, where his condition is stable.

The youngster, Godisela Dileep of Baswapur in Thangallapalli mandal explained about his love story on Facebook live before consuming pesticide. According to Dileep, he fell in love with a woman belonging to an upper caste, from Vemulawada town. He claimed to have developed feelings for her only after she proposed to him.

Dileep also claimed to have spent around Rs 4 lakh till now on the woman. Besides, paying for her treatment when she fell ill, Dileep said he provided financial assistance to her to pursue education for one-and-a-half years in Karimnagar town.

When the woman told her family members about plans to marry Dileep, they objected to it and refused to get them married. Dileep alleged that the woman’s family members abused him in the name of his caste and even got him severely thrashed at a village panchayat. Moreover, they even lodged a police complaint against him.

The police, he claimed, deleted all the photos he had clicked along with the girl from his mobile phone and produced him in court after registering a false case. Though he never consumed alcohol, the police in the FIR mentioned that he was addicted to liquor.

After being released from jail on bail, Dileep contacted the woman’s relative. On coming to know about it, the police began harassing him again and that is when he decided to commit suicide unable to take it any more and also for the false case registered against him, he maintained.

Contrary to Dileep’s allegations, the police said there were two cases against him. The CI maintained that Dileep had mentally tortured the woman and her family members.
