Six arrested in Jalpally arson incident that sparked mild communal tension
Protests erupt in Musheerabad over derogatory social media post, while Attapur witnesses clashes over cattle transport. Police confirm that all situations are now under control
Hyderabad: The Mailardevpally police on Monday arrested six people for a DCM arson incident at Jalpally on Sunday evening that caused mild communal tension.
Tense moments were witnessed at Jalpally, Pahadishareef, after some persons stopped a vehicle allegedly carrying animal waste, attacked two people grievously, and burnt their vehicle.
The development forced members of the butchers’ community and cattle traders to gather in large numbers on the Jalpally road. The Mailardevpally police reached the spot and brought the situation under control and barricaded the area to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, the situation remained peaceful at Musheerabad, where a group protested in front of the police station over a derogatory social media post targeting a particular community on Sunday night.
Some local youngsters from Musheerabad had noticed a post on social media with distasteful content and assembled in front of the local police station, demanding action against the person who had posted the content. On assurances from higher officials, the crowd dispersed from the spot after giving a representation to the police.
On the other hand, the local police said the situation was under control in Attapur, where mild tension prevailed after some persons stopped a vehicle carrying cattle and attacked the driver resulting in clash between two groups on Sunday.
