Amaravati: Six Maoists leaders of Andhra Pradesh-Odisha Border area have surrendered to the police.

Informing this to media persons here on Thursday, Director General of Police Gautam Sawang said they were taken into custody in the AOB area and Divisional Commander Gadarla Ravi alias Uday and some top leaders were among them.

Thanks to the special operation taken up by the police, the members belonging to Kalimela Dalam could be taken into custody, he added.

Observing that Maoists were not getting any support from the tribals as the government was resolving people’s problems in the agency, he said several welfare schemes were implemented during the past two years for the girijans.
