Hyderabad: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Narsingi on the suburbs on Sunday.

The suspect, identified as Busi Rao, a migrant worker from Jharkhand, was staying in the same neighbourhood where the child’s parents, also migrant workers from Jharkhand, stayed.

According to the police, on Sunday evening, the suspect had allegedly lured the child by promising to give her chocolates. After gaining her trust, he allegedly sexually assaulted the girl and later killed her, reportedly by bludgeoning her with a heavy object. He further dumped her body in a secluded spot and covered a stone.

With the child missing for a long time, her parents searched in all possible places in the surroundings but could not trace her. With no option left, they approached the Narsingi police and lodged a complaint around 10 pm.

The Narsingi Police registered a missing case and began an investigation.

Acting on the complaint, the police examined CCTV footage in the surrounding areas. During which, they noticed visuals of a man taking the girl away from near her house. The suspect was then identified and taken into custody. During questioning, he confessed to having taken the girl away, luring her with chocolates and killing her.

Based on his confession, the police inspected the crime spot and retrieved the girl’s body on Monday and shifted it to the Osmania General Hospital for autopsy.

The suspect was arrested, but the police have yet to announce it.
