Hyderabad: The word ‘Skylab’ has numerous tales of history in the past. Any old-timer who lived in the late ’70s would narrate the stories that often appeal to people as bizarre and hilarious — how people sold off their properties, how they indulged in extremities and bizarre things assuming that NASA’s satellite would end the earth.
Nithya Menen and Satya Dev-starrer titled ‘Skylab’ is one such hilarious tale of that time. The trailer was formally unveiled at AMB Cinemas in the city.
Set in the backdrop of Bandalingampally, a sleepy fictional village in rural Telangana, the movie features Nithya Menen as an aspiring journalist who works for ‘Prathibhimbham’ magazine. Satya Dev portrays the character of a doctor who wishes to set up a clinic in the village. Rahul Ramakrishna is the Subedar, Ramarao, in the village. Tharun Bhascker Dassyam is also seen in a small role.
And what connection does the Skylab have with these three characters, and how the people of Bandalingampally are worried about the satellite is what drives the story forward. With a mixture of comedy and drama, ‘Skylab’ is hitting the screens on December 4. Nithya Menen is turning producer with the movie.
