Hyderabad: Stating that the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) disaster reflects the incapability of the Congress government, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said that even after one year, the government could not retrieve the workers’ bodies from the tunnel.
The ceiling of the tunnel had collapsed on February 22 last year, trapping eight workers during the incident. He said the Congress government’s inefficiency had resulted in immense mental agony for the workers’ families, who were deprived of the opportunity to have a final glimpse of their dear ones even after the disaster.
Taking to X, the BRS working president said that even after a year, there was no progress in recovering the bodies from the tunnel and the works had not resumed.
“It is a testimony to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s sheer negligence and incompetence,” Rama Rao said, adding that the Congress government must focus on workers’ welfare and people’s well-being.
“If the Congress leaders, who are more focused on commissions and contracts, focus on workers welfare, such tragedies will not recur,” Rama Rao said.
