Sangareddy: Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao, who on Sunday inspected the arrangements for Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s public meeting in Naranyankhed on Monday, said Sangameshwara Lift Irrigation Project (SLIP) and Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation Project (BLIP) will usher in a new dawn in the lives of farmers in backward Narayankhed, Zaheerabad and Andole.
Speaking to news reporters at the meeting venue near Narayankhed town, the Minister said Chandrashekar Rao was on the job to correct the mistakes done by the Congress and Telugu Desam Party governments who ruled united Andhra Pradesh for seven long decades. Saying that the Narayankhed and Zaheerabad areas were ignored totally by the past governments, Harish Rao said the Chief Minister has put an end to the drinking water needs of these remote areas with Mission Bhagiratha.
While the land prices of the area already went up when Rythu Bandhu, Mission Kakatiya and 24-7 electricity were introduced, Rao said that the SLIP and BLIP will take the prices of lands here on par with any other places which will benefit the farmers at large. He said that no one used to come forward to purchase lands in Narayankhed lands terming them barren because of the lack of irrigation water in the past. Stating that the design and tenders of SLIP and BLIP have been completed, he said that they have aimed to complete the projects within two years.
He said that the two projects, which will be built with an outlay of Rs 4,400 crores, will provide irrigation water to 3.90 lakh acres. Since the Singur project will have water round the year, Rao said that the Zaheerabad and Naraynakhed will attract the industries too. Till some areas of Hyderabad were dependent on Singur for drinking water needs, the Minister said that the Godavari water will be supplied from Singur to Hyderabad round the year. Rao has elaborated on various efforts the Telangana government has put in since the State was created to improve the lives of the people.
The Minister said that a huge number of people were coming to the meeting venue voluntarily to see the Chief Minister and listen to his words. Harish Rao held a meeting with the officials and elected represents on the arrangements that needed to be made for the meeting. Rao will stay put in Narayankhed the night to ensure the meeting is conducted hassle-free.
